Perry, D. Sedin, Stamkos Named Lindsay Finalists

Anaheim's Corey Perry, Vancouver's Daniel Sedin and Tampa Bay's Steven Stamkos are this year's finalists for the Ted Lindsay Award, given annually to the "most outstanding player" in the NHL as voted on by members of the players' union, according to an ESPN.com report on Thursday.

Avs Prospect Stefan Elliott Named WHL's Defenseman Of The Year

Avalanche prospect Stefan Elliott has been awarded the Bill Hunter Memorial Trophy as the WHL’s Defenseman of the Year, the league announced today at the 2011 WHL Awards Luncheon in Calgary. Elliott, 20, edged fellow Avalanche prospect Tyson Barrie for the honor. Elliott led all WHL defensemen with 31 goals and tied for first among blueliners with 81 points in 71 games for the Saskatoon Blades. The Vancouver, B.C., native led the entire league in game-winning goals (12). “It’s a great honor to be the recipient of this award,” said Elliott, who was also nominated for the WHL’s Most Sportsmanlike Player. “I would like to congratulate all the other nominees and award winners, especially our head coach Lorne Molleken and Tyson (Barrie) for being nominated. I would like to thank my teammates, without them I wouldn’t be here. I’d also like to thank the WHL for providing me the opportunity to play in this league and to develop as a hockey player.”

Predators Prospect Ryan Ellis Named OHL's Outstanding Player

The OHL today announced that defenceman Ryan Ellis of the Windsor Spitfires is the 2010-11 recipient of the Red Tilson Trophy awarded to the OHL's Most Outstanding Player as voted by the writers and broadcasters that cover the league. Ellis, who scored 101 points in 58 games with 24 goals and 77 assists became the first defenceman in 17 years to score more than 100 points in a season. This is a great honour and very exciting for me, said Ellis. The guys who have their names on this trophy have done some great things for hockey. The fans in Windsor have been instrumental to our success over the years and I want to thank everyone for the best four years anyone could ask for.

Brown, Green, Sedin's Named Foundation Player Finalists

Los Angeles' Dustin Brown, Washington's Mike Green and Vancouver's Daniel and Henrik Sedin are this year's finalists for the NHL Foundation Player Award, according to an ESPN.com report on Monday. The award is given annually to the player "who applies the core values of hockey -- commitment, perseverance and teamwork -- to enrich the lives of people in his community."
